Justice Support Services

Program Summary

Justice Support Services helps individuals who are involved in or at risk of involvement in the criminal justice system. Court support workers provide support to individuals with mental illness involved in the court system and link them to other mental health services/treatment as needed   to ensure that people with a mental illness who are involved with the criminal justice system receive appropriate and timely support and treatment.

  8. Supportive counselling
  9. Crisis planning/prevention/intervention

  13. Public/professional education
  14. Provision of a safe bed in the community

The ‘Safe Beds” provides 24 hour, 7 day-a-week short-term support and access to a ‘safe place’ for stabilization and linkage to mental health supports.

Eligibility

Individuals residing in Windsor and Essex County, over 16 years of age, who have been involved or are at risk of involvement with the criminal justice system.

How To Access The Service

Referrals come from a variety of sources including lawyers, doctors, hospitals, family members, police, other community agencies and self-referrals. Please contact CMHA-WECB (519) 255-7440 for information.

Service Hours

The regular business hours are 8:30 to 4:30 at the agency, Monday to Friday. Services are available until 8:00 pm, Monday to Thursday by appointment.
