Consumer Council - A Voice for Consumers at CMHA

The Consumer Council of the Canadian Mental Health Association, Windsor-Essex County Branch is composed of consumer representatives. The CMHA definition of a consumer is “a person with significant direct experience with the mental health system and/ or a person with a significant mental health problem”. The purpose of the Consumer Council is to provide a forum for consumers to have input into the planning and evaluation of programs offered by the CMHA-WEB.


Consumer Council Functions


  1. Participate in focus groups, as requested

  2. Review published materials to ensure suitability for consumer use.

  3. Review Satisfaction Survey Tool and process. Review results and provide feedback for the Community Support Program.

  4. Review the annual Reports that monitor the complaints procedure.

  5. Serve as a forum for consumers to provide advice and make recommendations related to programs.

  6. Review new programs and significant program changes and provide feedback and advise.

  7. Review written documents and reports as requested and provide feedback to staff. ors.)
